On 5/15, Our Lady of Guadalupe Praesidium of St. Charles in conjunction with the Ladies Guild presented the second annual May Crowning and "Living rosary". After the Rosary, Father Edward Janoch gave a beautiful homily followed by Benediction. It was a beautiful ceremony that was well attended.

Novice Sisters of the Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, TOR join St. Raphael’s Our Lady of Guadalpue Praesidium and Rosemary Schnupp (St. Pat’s) making rosaries in the Fifth Grade. Special guest parochial vicar, Fr. Ryan Cubera joined us to help one of the classes. Today was the Legion's annual Acies ceremony held at St. Albert the Great Parish under the Our Lady of Lourdes Praesidium. (For an explanation of what the Acies is, look here...) 104 Legionaries and auxiliaries came and re-consecrated themselves to our Blessed Mother as we continue with our efforts to visit the sick and homebound, and bring the Good News of our Lord and Savior to others. The Legion system is very structured and we track almost everything. We are building a library of forms to help you, the active Legionary, in your daily work. Forms include templates for meeting minutes and charts for keeping track of hours worked and contacts made. If you would like to submit a form to add to the library, click on the contact page and let us know.
The documents section will also hold minutes of the monthly Comitium meetings, with financials and personal information redacted. Now you can catch up on Comitium business by reading the monthly minutes. The documents section is password protected. You can obtain the password by asking the officers at your praesidium meeting, if your praesidium is within the Cleveland West Comitium. Access to our documents section is limited to Cleveland West Comitium and the Curiae and Praesidia within the Comitium. THE PEREGRINATIO PRO CHRISTO The ambition to get in touch with every soul must begin with those near at hand. It must not stop there but should proceed to symbolic steps far beyond the sphere of normal life. That purpose is facilitated by the legionary movement known as the Peregrinatio Pro Christo. This name is adopted from the missionary epic of the Monks of the West, immortalised in Montalembert's classic. "That invincible multitude went forth from their own country and from their kindred and out of their father's house." (Gen 12:1) and traversed Europe in the sixth and seventh centuries, rebuilding the faith which the fall of the Roman Empire had brought down with it. In the same idealism the Peregrinatio Pro Christo sends teams of legionaries, who have the time and means to spend limited periods in distant places where the religious conditions are bad, on "the delicate, difficult, unpopular mission of revealing that Christ is the Saviour of the world. It must be undertaken by the people." (Pope Paul VI) Nearby places do not qualify for the Peregrinatio Pro Christo. If possible it should be to a different country. This assertion, even for as little as a week or two, of the principle of travelling and venturing for the faith can transform legionary thinking and strike the imagination of all. ~ Legion Handbook, Chapter 40, Go Preach the Gospel to the Whole Creation; Section 8, The Peregrinatio Pro Christo According to Frank Duff, the Peregrinatio Pro Christo can transform legionary thinking and strike the imagination of all. A PPC mission trip can be a great benefit and transformation to the Legionary who makes the trip and can have a profound effect on the people visited. All active Legionaries are invited to participate in a PPC, preferably one far from the Legionary's home. A PPC organized in the "Legion way" is centered on a parish where the legionaries gather each day for a Legion meeting and then set out in pairs to visit every home in the parish. They visit with the people, inviting non-Catholics to consider Catholic Church and inviting non-practicing Catholics to return to the sacraments. They leave literature and church bulletins, especially at locations where no one is home. They work about four hours per day, and the PPC lasts about a week. A PPC is coming up in Muncie, Indiana this June 2015. You can find out about it here, http://tinyurl.com/n2mghak or call Steve Goodman from the Cincinnati Senatus at 765-729-2794. Legionaries from the Cleveland Comitium recently went on a short mission trip to El Salvador. While not a true PPC in the Legion way, they were able to share the gospel and show love to the people. El Salvador is a country that while officially Catholic under its Constitution, has a population about 51% Catholic with only 30% actually practicing. Legionaries handed out rosaries, visited, prayed, and attended mass with the people. They also offered support and encouragement to our Cleveland-area priests serving there. In whatever way, Legionaries must strive to share the gospel every day. A Peregrinatio Pro Christo may be just the thing needed to spread the gospel to those still not reached, and to help the Legionary see the world through new eyes. On Sunday May 17th, Our Lady of Guadalupe Presidium of St. Charles Brorromeo parish held it's first annual May crowning. The Presidium in conjunction with other parish groups helped plan and stage the event. Several of the members participated in a "living rosary" each praying part of the rosary, and leaving a flower by Our Blessed Mother's Shrine. It was a very beautiful and moving ceremony to honor our Blessed Mother.
Pray for the extension of the Legion of Mary for thirteen days, from the feast of St. Bernadette (April 16) to the feast of St Louis Marie de Montfort (April 28)
The Akron Central Curia, part of the Cleveland Comitium, received through its Spiritual Director a thirteen-day prayer for extension of the Legion of Mary. The prayer, which begins this Thursday April 16th, is a prayer for the growth and strengthening of the Legion of Mary in our Diocese of Cleveland. The prayer has historical roots. The Legion of Mary came to France in 1940 with brand-new legionary Veronica O'Brien, who made the last boat to make the crossing from Ireland before the Nazi occupation of France, and who took shelter in the convent at Nevers (the convent of St. Bernadette). Connected not only to St. Bernadette but also to St. Louis Marie de Montfort, she founded 800 Praesidia. Here is the prayer: pray it beginning Thursday April 16 (the feast day of St. Bernadette) through Tuesday April 28 (the feast day of St. Louis Marie de Montfort). Dear St. Bernadette, Chosen of Almighty God as a channel of His graces and blessings, we implore you to listen to our pleading prayers and place our petition in the hands of Holy Mother Mary so that she may place them at the feet of her beloved Son Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that He may look on us with mercy and compassion. Intercede for us then as we pray for the growth and strengthening of the Legion of Mary in our diocese. O Ever-Virgin Mother of God and Mediatrix of All Graces, who art House of Gold, within which dwells Your Son, our Mediator Jesus Christ, we humbly beseech you to grant our requests for the growth and strengthening of your Legion for the salvation of souls. Keep us close to the Vicar of Your Son in the unity of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic, and Roman Church. Hear our prayer and grant this request we make to you. St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, patron of the Legion of Mary, loving slave of Jesus in Mary, pray for us! Apostle for the end times, pray for us! Apostle of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us! Powerful intercessor before the throne of God, hear our prayer! May God grant that, through your example and intercession, those who make the Consecration find the Legion of Mary to be the answer to living it out, and that, all present legionaries be renewed in the spirit of their baptism and faithfully serve Jesus through Mary. We ask this in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Who liveth and reigneth through the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. On Saturday, March 28th the Acies for the Cleveland Comitium was held at Mary Queen of Peace church in Cleveland. It was a beautiful ceremony as a large turnout was there to renew their Legionary promise, and to consecrate themselves in service to Mary in a "battle array". The church was beautiful, and was a perfect setting for a very moving service. |
