On June first, eighty-four legionaries attended the Legion of Mary Congress co-hosted by the Cleveland West Comitium, the Akron Central Curia, and the Cleveland East Curia. The daylong event was held at Mary Queen Peace Church in Cleveland. The day started with Holy Mass, and proceeded on with five discussion sessions. Each session focused on the legionary goal of converting those outside the Church to the Catholic Faith. There was emphasis on personal growth in holiness, and a call to action in our world so desperately in need of hope. Attendees enjoyed breakfast and lunch, and became acquainted with other legionaries throughout Northeast Ohio. Father Baugh, the spiritual director of the Cleveland East Curia, and Father Brown, the spiritual director of Mary Queen of Peace praesidium, celebrated Mass and led the attendees in prayer. Father Baugh gave inspiring opening and closing talks, asking if we had all the food needed to feed the world, would we not work as hard as we could to get that food to starving people? And since we have the bread of life needed to feed the spiritually starving, what keeps us from working to our maximum every day to spread the message of Jesus Christ? As usual, the day began and ended with the Legion prayers, as attendees asked for the blessing and protection of our Blessed Mother. Our next Comitium-wide event will be a Eucharistic Procession at St. John Cathedral in downtown Cleveland on September 7 at noon. |
